Search history tells much about your action and activities on Facebook. Just like some search engines and email services, Facebook also memorizes users’ search histories so that it can offer appropriate suggestions to them depending upon their areas of interest.
Facebook search history may include the profiles or names of the people that you may have searched and visited, Facebook fan pages, posts, among others. Since Facebook search history is separate from the search history that browsers store, it cannot be cleared just by deleting the cookies from your mobile phone.
Instead, Facebook has a special and dedicated button to clear the search history that the website stores. If you do not want that sort of data left sitting around, here’s how to clear it.
How to View Your Search History
How you get to your Facebook search history in the first place varies a bit, depending on whether you are using the iOS or Android mobile apps, or the web interface.
How to Clear Facebook Search History on The Web
Step 1 ====> Log in to your Facebook account
Step 2 ====> Then click on the Facebook Search bar
Step 3 ====> Now click on the Edit option in the top-right corner of the Facebook Search bar.
Step 1 ====> Go to your timeline page
Step 2 ====> Click View Activity Log.
Step 3 ====> Then click More (below Comments) and choose Search History from the list.
Step 4 ====> Once you are on the search history page from any of the first three steps above, you can delete individual search queries.
Step 5 ====> Now to delete a search, click the edit button next to lock. Then click Delete.
Step 6 ====> A delete confirmation dialog box will appear. Click Remove Search.
Step 7 ====> To delete all the searches at once, look for Clear Searches option on the top of the page.
NB Once deleted, you will not be able to get back your search history.
Deleting the searches from the activity log will also remove them from everywhere else they appears. For example, this will also erase the Facebook search bar’s recent searches drop-down list after you delete the names from here.
