Google Drive had just introduced a new feature called Quick access. Quick access uses machine learning to predict documents you want to access and display them at the top of my Drive.
This feature (quick access) is meant to save time so that you don’t have to sift through various folders to find the file you want to view.
However, this can become a problem if you have sensitive information that you don’t want others to view. That is why this article will lead us through the whole process in which you can disable Google Drive Quick Access (GDQA).
Many users probably like this feature, but for some it is just an annoyance and takes up precious screen real estate. Luckily, you can disable this feature on the Google Drive web interface, as well as in the Google Drive apps for iPhone and Android. Here is how to do it:
Disable Google Drive Quick Access On Web
Step 1 ====> Log in to your Google Drive account through this link. You can as well access your Drive account using your Gmail account. on your Gmail account, at the top right corner click on the icon beside notification icon to access Google Drive
Step 2 ====> Click on the setting icon on your Drive account at the top right corner on the window
Step 3 ====> Then click on settings
Step 4 ====> Find the Quick Access feature and uncheck the box next to “Make relevant files handy when you need them. Sometime you may not see Quick Access, but you will see Suggestions, the uncheck the box
Step 5 ====> Finally, click Done at the top of that pop-up window and then refresh the page.
How To Disable Quick Access From Google Drive Android App
Step 1 ====> Turn on your Android device and open your app drawer.
Step 2 ====> Go to Google Drive app on your device and open it by tapping on it.
Step 3 ====> Tap the menu button three-line icon (…) at the upper left corner of your device screen.
Step 4 ====> Now scroll down to the bottom of the menu and tap on Settings.
Step 5 ====> Then tap on the toggle switch beside the Enable Quick Access option to disable the feature.
How To Disable Quick Access from Google Drive iOS app (iPhone App)
If you are an iPhone or iPad user, follow the steps below to disable the quick access on your device.
Step 1 ====> Turn on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2 ====> Go to Google Drive app and tap on it to open it.
Step 3 ====> Tap the menu in the upper left corner of your iPhone or iPad screen.
Step 4 ====> Now tap on Settings at the bottom of your device screen.
Step 5 ====> Then, tap on Quick Access.
Step 6 ====> Finally tap on the toggle switch which is next to Enable Quick Access to disable the feature.
